BYU Remains Perfect With Win Over Virginia Tech

Sydney Benally scored a team-high 18 points, while Lara Rohkohl scored 12 and Olivia Hamlin added 11 as BYU (7-0) won a back-and-forth contest over Virginia Tech (5-2), 64-60 on Thursday at the 2025 Paradise Jam.

In a game that saw nine ties and 12 lead changes, it was a dominant third quarter by the Cougars – who outscored the Hokies 20-11 in the period – that set up a fourth quarter where BYU was able to hold Virginia Tech at arm’s length the entirety of the quarter.

Brinley Cannon led BYU with seven boards, while Benally dished out a team-best seven assists. Carleigh Wetzel led Virginia Tech with 18 points of her own.

Both teams will return to action Saturday with BYU facing the winner of tonight’s Vanderbilt/Oregon State matchup and Virginia Tech facing the losing team from the same contest. The game times are to be determined.
