Commodores Sail Past Beavers
Mikayla Blakes scored a game-high 35 points to lead the No. 17 Vanderbilt Commodores (7-0) to a commanding 88-66 win over Oregon State (5-2) on Thursday at the 2025 Paradise Jam.
Vandy forced 21 Oregon State turnovers while only committing seven – none in the third quarter, capitalizing on those turnovers to the tune of 27 points. And while the Beavers held a 36-30 advantage on points in the paint, Vanderbilt connected on 12 3-pointers on the night.
Justine Pissott added 17 points and Aubrey Galvan added 12 in the winning effort, while Jenna Villa and Ally Schimel both scored 15 points for the Beavers.
Vanderbilt advances to the Island Division championship game, where the Commodores will face off against BYU in a 1 p.m. game Saturday. Oregon State will face Virginia Tech at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the third place game of the Island Division.
