Tulane Holds Off Late Elon Charge
Mecailin Marshall scored a team-high 17 points, leading a cast of three Tulane players to hit double figures as the Green Wave (3-3) picked up a 64-61 win over Elon (2-4) on Thursday on day one of the 2025 Paradise Jam.
Elon led by eight (35-27) at the half and took its largest lead of the game at nine points (40-31) at the 7:49 mark of the third quarter; however, Tulane used a 9-0 run to tie the game with 5:51 to play in the third and surged ahead, outscoring Elon 16-4 down the stretch to take a 12-point lead into the fourth quarter.
The Phoenix would not go quietly, however, rallying in the fourth quarter to tie the game with 3:30 to play, and Elon reclaimed the lead 61-60 with 2:03 to play, however, Tulane scored the game’s final four points to claim the win.
With the win, Tulane advances to the Harbor Division championship game at 4 p.m. AST Friday against the winner of the Boise State/North Dakota contest, while Elon will play the losing team from that same game on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
