Charleston Wins Thriller Over UMass

Charleston (3-3) took advantage of a balanced scoring attack in a thrilling 69-65 win over UMass (3-2) on Friday on day one of the 2025 Paradise Jam.

Jlynn Counter was the only Cougar to reach double figures in points, scoring 12. Marcus Banks led all scorers for UMass with 18 points. The Charleston bench provided 33 of Charleston’s 69 points on the evening.

UMass started strong – opening the game on a 7-0 run. It was the second time Charleston had an opponent start the game on a 7-0 run this season – but this time, the Cougars rallied to claim victory.

The Cougars made the most of their trips to the charity stripe – converting on 24 of 29 opportunities.

Charleston will now advance to face Yale in Sunday’s Game Seven, while UMass is set for a Saturday matchup with Green Bay.
