Hokies Down Oregon State
Mel Daley led Virginia Tech with a 24-point performance as the Hokies (6-2) picked up a 78-67 win over Oregon State (5-3) in the third place game of the Island Division of the 2025 Paradise Jam.
The Hokies never trailed in the contest, opening up a 12-point lead after the first quarter and later using a 16-0 run between the second and third quarters to extend the lead to 20 (55-35) midway through the third.
Oregon State cut its deficit to 12 after three and was able to pull within three points twice in the fourth quarter, but again Virginia Tech seized the momentum and pulled away.
Carys Baker (20 points) and Carleigh Wenzel (13 points) both reached double figures in the winning effort. Jenna Villa scored a team-high 19 points for Oregon State in the loss.
Virginia Tech returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 4, hosting Florida in the ACC/SEC Challenge; Oregon State’s next action comes on Wednesday, Dec. 3, when they travel to Oregon.
