Villa’s Big Night Boosts Cougars

Eleonora Villa scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed five rebounds, leading the way for the Washington State Cougars (1-6) in a 71-67 win over Miami University (4-3) on Friday at the 2025 Paradise Jam.

With the win, Washington State advances to face the winner of tonight’s LSU/Marist game at 9 p.m. Saturday, while Miami faces the losing team from that same game.

Washington State led through the first quarter, but at the 7:18 mark of the second quarter, Miami’s Amber Treeter hit a 3-pointer on the break that put Miami ahead for the first time.

The Cougars pushed their lead back to seven at the half (33-26) and while the two teams traded the lead eight times in a back-and-forth third quarter, the fourth quarter belonged to Washington State.

Charlotte Abraham joined Villa in double figures with 18 points, while Miami was led by Ilse De Vries’ 16 points.
